SC&E Academic Programs
 
A world-renowned faculty leads SC&E’s two academic departments, the Department of Environmental Sciences (ENVS) and the Department of Oceanography & Coastal Sciences (DOCS). Starting in the Fall 2008, SC&E will inaugurate an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Coastal Environmental Sciences.

The Department of Environmental Sciences offers a Master of Science degree in environmental sciences with the following concentrations:
 
• Environmental toxicology
• Environmental planning and management (also available as a collaborative graduate program with LSU Shreveport)
• Wetland science and management (in conjunction with DOCS)

The faculty members in the Department of Environmental Sciences have expertise in disciplines including physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology, microbiology, ecology, GIS, remote sensing, law, and political science. A holistic approach to environmental problems is the cornerstone of our academic and research efforts..

The Department of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences offers Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees and supports the expansion of marine-related instruction in other academic departments. DOCS also offers an undergraduate minor in oceanography and coastal sciences.

Research and instruction in DOCS are focused on fundamental understanding and practical application of knowledge of the physical, chemical, biological, geological, and meteorological processes that affect those environments usually identified as marine, coastal, estuarine or wetland.
